Wispy, fluffy, naturally buoyant feathers from the rear of a duck near the tail.
Cul De Canard
Cul De Canard or CDC feathers grow near a duck's preen gland, just in front of the tail. They are fluffy, wispy, and float naturally. Oil from the preen gland as well as the natural air-trapping structure of these feathers means that they require little--if any--floatant. Marc Petitjean ties extensively with these feathers, and the Petitjean Magic Tools make them easy to handle for a variety of applications.
