FFS Tippet Ring

A tippet ring is a small ring that is tied to the leader and used to tie on the tippet. It makes leaders last longer because it avoids the leader loss from tying the tippet in using a double surgeon's knot.

One leader per fishing season? With the cost of a good tapered leader ($5 or so unless you get them from us), you want to make them go as far as possible. Tie in a tippet ring (they are light enough to ride in the surface film without sinking) after cutting off about 18" of the tapered leader, then tie on the 18" of tapered leader, or a tippet material of your choice. Knot? I use an improved clinch knot.
