#2 Grade Metz Rooster Saddle for the fly tyer that wants quality. With the feather hair extension market, we rarely have #1 grade saddles. Metz genetic saddles contain long feathers with flexible stems and high barb density. This ginger saddle has feathers near the edges and top that measure down to size 18. The majority of the feathers in this saddle will measure to sizes 14-16 with a few 18s and some 12s, perhaps larger. The neck feathers range in color from very light ginger to near brown; all the feathers have a warm ginger tint as shown in the closeup photo. Feathers are in excellent shape. As with other Metz #2 necks, feathers in the saddle measure size 14, 16 and 18, and are long enough to tie several dry flies each, depending on how densely you hackle. Feather density on the Metz saddle is high, and these will easily hundreds of flies. Most feathers will fall in the 12 to 16 range, with a few larger and smaller. Barbs are stiff and webbing is appropriate for a #2 saddle.
