Flat Butt Fly Fishing Leaders - Flat Yellow Butt Tapering to a Clear Round tippet

It sounds a little strange, but it casts like a dream. The butt section is thicker than a standard tapered leader. It's not really flat; we would say it is "flatter" than a round leader. More oval than square. 

The casting effect is pronounced, though. Tie a standard perfection loop in the end of the leader. Attach it to your fly line. One cast and you'll be hooked. The thicker, flattened end of the leader transfers power from your fly line better than a standard round leader. It also cuts through the air differently--like an air foil--turning your flies over perfectly even if you're casting a larger fly than you should with the rod and line weight. 

When casting dry flies with the 15 foot leader, the effect is like improving your cast significantly.
