SemperFli ABC Stoneflies – Andy's Bugs and Creatures
SemperFli ABC Stoneflies from Andy's Bugs and Creatures are pre-formed stonefly nymph bodies that give you a realistic starting point in a single tie-in. Cut from supple synthetic suede with a natural curve and built-in segmentation, these bodies capture the bulky thorax and tapered abdomen you want in a good stonefly pattern—without hours of sculpting at the vise.
In the water, the suede absorbs a little moisture and softens, so the body pulses and moves instead of looking stiff, closely mimicking the way real stonefly nymphs tumble and crawl in current. You can fish them in their base color for quick guide-style flies or customize each body with markers, dubbing, rubber legs, and a thin UV resin shell over the back for extra durability and depth. Each pack includes eight bodies and is offered in multiple lengths, so you can cover everything from compact pocket-water bugs to big Western stoneflies.
Features
- Pre-shaped stonefly nymph forms – Realistic outline with pronounced thorax, tapered abdomen, and body segmentation already built in for faster tying.
- Synthetic suede construction – Cut from soft synthetic suede for crisp detail, consistent sizing, and a supple feel.
- Lifelike movement when wet – Suede body takes on water and flexes naturally, giving finished flies a more animated, “alive” look in the drift.
- Easy to color and customize – Accepts marker, dubbing, legs, ribbing, and resin so you can match local stonefly colors and profiles.
- Works great with UV resin – A thin coat over the back creates a durable, semi-translucent shell while the suede beneath keeps the fly looking meaty.
- Multiple sizes available – Offered in a range of lengths to cover smaller stoneflies up through large salmonfly-style patterns.
- Eight bodies per pack – Enough pre-formed bodies to knock out a row of matching nymphs quickly for your favorite rivers.
Best For
- Stonefly nymph patterns for trout in freestone and tailwater rivers
- Guides and anglers who want realistic stoneflies without complex body work
- Building jig-style and standard nymphs where a substantial, detailed body is key
- Tiers who like to customize color and finish on a consistent, pre-shaped body base
