The BC Hopper was developed by John Barr and Charlie Craven. It provides a high floating fly that not only attracts strikes, but serves as a strike indicator for the Hopper-Copper-Dropper (HCD) rig developed by John Barr.
The HCD uses a Hopper as a strike indicator, a Copper John as a middle fly, and a dropper selected for local waters.
A size 12 BC Hopper is almost identical in size to the grasshoppers that bait shops sell as live bait. Size 8 BC Hoppers are the size of the grasshoppers you see in corn fields and high grass.
If you haven't tried the HCD rig, get at least one BC Hopper to use as the Hopper in the rig.
