Olive Woolly Bugger

The FFS Olive Woolly Bugger is tied a bit differently from the standard olive bugger. The tail is a true olive died marabou blood quill. The blood quill provides more fibers, and more movement than the standard method of ripping barbs from the side of a marabou quill feather. Using these feathers provides a fuller tail, and the fibers don't need to be cut or pinched off, producing a more natural flair and movement in the water. We fished woolly buggers in several streams and rivers and discovered that olive died grizzly hackle produces aggressive strikes and more strikes than just olive hackle. 

There is also a marked difference between the smaller sized flies (10 and 12) and the larger flies. The hackle we use on smaller flies is less webby and provides a "clean" look. We hackle our larger sizes with much more "bushy" died grizzly. This gives them life and movement in the water.
